Beng Melea

Our last day at the Angkor temples in Cambodia was definitely the most incredible, we went off the beaten path and out into the jungle. Our last stop was Beng Melea, a temple that has almost completely collapsed and the surrounding area was just recently cleared of land mines. You can climb up on the ruins, and make your way around the tree roots and collapsed roofs. We found a local guide to show us what was safe and what wasn't and as the sun set, we clambered around what felt like a grown-up playground.

It's definitely off the main tourist track, but if you are visiting Angkor Wat it is well worth the drive from the city.
