The 2014 National Stationery Show

We are back from the National Stationery Show, and it was another good one! This was my fourth year prepping like crazy and hauling everything from the studio down to the Javits Center in NYC. It's definitely the finals week of the stationery world. But this year felt easier after three previous shows; I was prepared for all the roadbumps including calendars that were never delivered (we got replacements) and shelf brackets that wouldn't hold a shelf (thanks IKEA!) After three years, I knew these things were coming and gave myself plenty of extra time to set up and get everything ironed out just in time.

It was definitely my favorite booth yet! I loved the dark teal color on the walls, and all the late nights spent printing before the show paid off when I got to display all the new products. We launched a new 2015 write-in calendar and a lot of other products I am so excited about. They'll all be going up in the shop in the next few weeks, and we are taking orders through hello (at) kwatson.com as well.

I always need a few days on the couch to recover from the show: long days of standing, selling, smiling and mingling really take it out of you. But I'm back in the studio and in the midst of shipping out orders to a ton of new stores. I'll be updating the Stores List once everything is shipped out!

Overall it was another fruitful NSS with lots of great contacts and leads made, and hopefully a few exciting projects coming down the line!

To the National Stationery Show!

It's that time of year again: we are headed to New York for the National Stationery Show! That means there is a huge product launch just around the corner, but for now I am busy setting up my booth and going over all the last minute details. I'll be back with booth photos and a look at some new products after the show, but if you are going we would love to see you in Booth 1941!

The 2013 National Stationery Show

I'm back from a very successful National Stationery Show! I had a much-needed few days of rest after a long couple of months prepping for the show, and now I'm back in the studio (not completely relaxed though, I had a stress dream that the next Stationery Show was starting again today and I had one hour to prepare).

This was a big year at the show: I released 24 new blank card designs, a line of new greeting cards, a new color for the monogram cards, new art prints and journals, plus a new block printed quilt and lots of new little things (gift tags, coasters and notepads). There was a lot of new stationery in the booth! I am in the process of adding all the new items to the shop, so they should be up in the next week or so.

The Stationery Show is the biggest event of the year in the paper world: a full day of meeting store owners, buyers, and other artists, followed by meetings and cocktail parties in the evening with more schmoozing. It is so much fun and so inspiring, but also completely exhausting and I was so excited to get home after the show.

For my booth this year, I went with a purple-grey color (a more subtle look than last year's red walls). I wanted to stick to a lighter color this year since there were so many products in the booth. The big new addition was the block printed quilts which got a great response! They are made by the same printers who block print the scarves and I'll be sharing lots of photos soon. I built a wooden ladder to display the quilts and loved the way they looked hanging in the booth.

Take a look at the photos of the new products below! If you have questions about any of the new products that aren't online yet, you can contact me here. And if you want to see some of the other booths at the show, there is a great round-up going on at Oh So Beautiful Paper.

Stationery Show Sneak Peek

In one week, I'll be setting up my booth (# 1942!) at the National Stationery Show. This last week before the show always feels like finals week: late nights, cramming in as much as possible, and lots of junk food. But now the booth walls are painted, the catalog is at the printer, almost all of the cards are printed, and I just have the final touches to add. I can't wait to unveil the whole new line at the show!

The 2012 National Stationery Show: Part Two

I'm back to work, prepping orders I took at the Stationery Show, and I wanted to share one more round of photos from the booth. So much planning and work went into the booth, I couldn't stop at one post!

You can see all the new products that launched at the show (which have already started going up in the shop). One of the biggest hits of the show were the displays of printing blocks; I had a few out last year, but this year they were a focal point and were displayed all over the booth. The carved linoleum sign was a big hit too, and I'll definitely be getting more use out of it.

Another huge thanks to everyone who helped out, stopped by the booth, or placed orders at the show. Thanks for helping make it such a success!
